The current
Mercury Monterey minivan is the
Mercury variant of the
2004 Ford Freestar. It fills the gap in the Mercury lineup left after the cancellation of the
Mercury Villager in
2002.
Earlier Mercury Monterey models
The Monterey model first appeared around 1950 and its maker Ford Motor Company continued production until 1973, when the more luxurious Mercury Marquis succeeded it. This earlier iteration of Monterey was as a full sized passenger automobile.
