Acharnes, commonly Acharnai or Acharne (or Akharnes, Akharne, Akharnai, Aharnes, Aharnai, Aharne, Greek:, Ancient/Katharevousa and official name: Αχάρναι, Modern and older spelling: Αχάρνες) is a suburb of Athens also known as Menidi (Μενίδι). Much of the area north of the area are the forested Parnitha ranges and the parkland.

In ancient times when it was the deme Acharnae, many of its residents were charcoal peddlers, a fact which is put to comic use by Aristophanes in his play The Acharnians. Today it is a working-class neighborhood. It is located about 10 km due north of Athens.

Acharnai has schools, a lyceum, a gymnasium, banks, a post office and squares.

On 7 September, 1999, it was very close to the epicenter of a devastating earthquake which resulted in significant destruction to Acharnes and the greater Athens area.
