Massacre of prisoners

Massacre of prisoners was a massacre committed by Soviet NKVD on prisoners in cities from which the Red Army was withdrawing after the German invasion in 1941.

Most of the prisoners were innocent and waiting deportation. Normally prisoners were shot and prisons burned down. One of the cases occurred in Lwów. The death toll is estimated at 30,000-40,000.
