Lima is the downtown district of the city of Lima, Peru. It is locally known as Cercado de Lima. Being the oldest district in the city, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima is located here, and the mayor of Metropolitan Lima is also the mayor of this district. Vestiges of Lima's colonial heyday remain today in downtown Lima.
It has many different zones, such as "Barrios Altos", "Santa Beatriz", the "Historical Center", the "Lima Industrial Zone" and the urban areas of "Elio", "Pando III Etapa", "Los Cipreses", among others.
