Lewis Spence

Lewis Spence (November 25, 1874 - March 3, 1955) was a Scottish journalist and writer.

Spence has been credited in reviving the study of Scottish folklore. Later in his career, he published a series of popular books, some of which remain in print to this day. Spence was also the founder of the Scottish National Movement which later merged to form the National Party of Scotland which later merged to form the Scottish National Party.

In The Mysteries of Britain, Spence theorized that the original Britons were descendents of a people that migrated from Northwestern Africa and were probably related to the Berbers and the Basque. This theory is reportedly supported by modern day genetic analysis.
